The First Hero was born of granite and lightning, and as he kneeled naked in a smoking crater he was covered in tattoos.
These tattoos are the basis of the Brahn written word, and the basis for the cultural practice of writing stylized cursus vitae on the face, temples, chest, and arms.
Weapons are also engraved in the same fashion.
Writing is important as the cornerstone of memory, and lengthy epic poems are at the core of the Brahn religion (Priest essentially memorize large parts of mythic history and draw lessons from it).
